Tour Itinerary – Day 1 Saturday

The day began in Reigate where by 09:00 hrs, the choir had boarded the coach and set off for King’s Lynn. They reached King’s Lynn Minster, located at Saturday Market Place, at lunchtime. Upon arrival, they were warmly greeted by Jo from Sound Escapes. With some leisure time on their hands, they explored the charming town and enjoyed lunch.

After lunch, they gathered for a rehearsal at the historic King’s Lynn Minster followed by their first concert of the tour.  Performing in such a magnificent setting was a highlight of the trip, and they were thrilled to share their music with an appreciative audience.

Following the concert, they boarded the coach and headed to the Premier Inn King’s Lynn to freshen up. Then onward to Marriott’s Warehouse, situated on South Quay, for their evening meal. It was a delightful 3-course dining experience, offering a perfect opportunity to unwind and enjoy some locally sourced and delicious cuisine.

Tour Itinerary -Day 2 – Sunday

By 09:10 hrs, they had loaded their luggage onto the coach and departed for St Edmund’s Church in Downham Market, where they participated in the Sung Eucharist service. It was a moving experience, contributing to the service with their voices.

After the service, they departed for St Mary’s Church in Saffron Walden for a spot of lunch followed by a second concert at St Mary’s Church. Their second afternoon concert of the tour was well-received, and they were delighted to perform in such a picturesque setting. Following the concert, the group leader Helier led the choir with a guided walking tour of this historic, market town.

They arrived back at Reigate College early evening, marking the end of a wonderful and fulfilling tour. Thank you to Helier and Ann from the choir for being such a pleasure to work with!

Reflecting on the Experience

The tour was a resounding success, offering the Reigate & Redhill Choral Society the opportunity to share their love of music with new audiences while enjoying the beauty and history of King’s Lynn and Saffron Walden. They returned home with cherished memories, looking forward to their next musical adventure. Thank you to everyone who made this tour possible, and they hope to see you at their future performances!
